Wheelchairs play a vital part to mobilize and provide convenience in the lives of PWDs. The wheelchairs available in markets are widely patient wheelchairs that fail to cater the needs of PWDs while constantly requiring assistance from an attendant. These wheelchairs fail to fulfill the purpose of mobilization and add to the struggle of the user.

Keeping in mind the challenges faced by persons with disabilities on wheelchairs, Society for Special Persons laid the foundation of Pakistan Customized Wheelchair Unit in Multan. PCWU adjusts the wheelchairs based on the weight, age, gender of the user, while making these wheelchairs colorful and attractive.

PCWU is working on the dynamics of a complete wheelchair clinic that also provides wheelchair repair and maintenance. Wheelchairs are manufactured from scratch by skilled professionals most of which are PWDs themselves.

Customized wheelchairs symbolize free mobility of persons with disabilities, with the aim to empower PWDs by inspiring them to move through their daily routines including education, employment, household, social service and participation in other recreational activities without seeking dependence.

PCWU has created mobility for PWDs and provids them with chances to employment through easing the process of movement. PCWU staff consist of persons with disabilities who are not only adding comfort to the lives of their fellow disables but are also supporting their families through their work. The services of these employees are adding towards the progress of their country and they immensely take pride by doing their bit in empowering PWDs.
