Personal Attendant Training .
In order to maintain a healthy and convenient environment for PWDs inside their homes Society for Special persons provides training and counselling sessions to the families or guardians of PWDs. Keeping in mind the nature of the disability of the person, trainers at SSP provide guidelines as to how PWDs can be assisted in a variety of tasks.SSP is sponsoring over 13 families with more than one PWDs in their families.
Most PWDs who SSP office are from underserved areas, unable to afford personal attendants. This often leads to disappointment towards life, causing pessimistic attitude on part of the families of PWDs, depriving them of an independent life style and being limited to only their homes. SSP is actively working towards changing such attitude and providing valuable training and drills to individuals assisting PWDs.
Whenever a PWDs come in the SSP office, they are received by the staff who help them sign up with the organization and follow ups are arranged accordingly. Staff helps to pin point the areas where PWDs may need the most assistance. Trainings are provided accordingly. A clinical psychologist is also on board to provide insight as to what the PWDs might actually require. Often counselling sessions are also held in order to sensitize the family members or guardians regarding disability management. Through effective trainings and counselling episodes, family members are able to assist PWDs in a better way, that ensures sustainability in the lives of PWDs
