SSP’s worked a great deal during the 2010 floods that wreaked havoc in the rural regions of South Punjab.
Disaster and Crisis Management
Effective steps had to be conducted in order to regenerate people who had been touched by the disaster. While the state and its people joined hands to aid flood victims, SSP had a very important motive to work upon.
SSP formed an alliance with Regional Scouts Headquarters, Crescent Lions Club, Multan arranged surveys in the flood affected regions to collect statistics of PWDs to initiate programs to bring relief to these people.
SSP’s efforts for PWDs in flood stricken areas were highly appreciated and drew attention internationally and SSP was featured in Russia Today, Ability Magazine, Geo News, many local channels and newspapers.SSP’s enthusiastic actions towards PWDs in flood affected areas won appraisal by the Government of Pakistan, the consequential results of which was the inclusion of PWDs in Government planning in disaster and flood management in the following year 2011.
